Blu-Ray Has 5 Years Left, OLED Wave Of Future?

    Take That...Face!

As big a fan I am of the Blu-Ray technology, I am an even 'humonguser' fan of OLED tech.  While perusing Pocket-Lint, I found an interesting article about what 'could be' the life span of the newly inducted next generation storage format in Blu-Ray.

"I think it [Blu-ray] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn't give it 10", Andy Griffiths, director of consumer electronics at Samsung UK told Pocket-lint in an interview.

    OLED...pretty sweet eh?

    Insert "Size Matters" Joke Here

Above is Samsung's whopping 40" OLED screen television. I always found it funny that even at tech shows they stroll out the little models as if the sex appeal of owning a bazillion dollar, unavailable to the public television set isn't enough...nope...you get a lady who'se being paid to put a thin, paper-like screen in front of her. Weird.

One question though, seeing as consumers were so easy to pass on Blu-Ray for what seems to be 3 years now, what makes people like Griffiths so sure that most people will jump right on OLED once the price hits the public?
