Sega Dreamcast Anniversary - Remember The Good Times

So Many Good Things...What Went Wrong

Sega's last console which was launched September 9th in 1999 [9/9/99] had it's ninth anniversary yesterday.  As a proud owner of a Dreamcast I thought I'd make a small post about the 'good times'. Funny, I was reading specs on this machine and it really did have it all! Having it all wasn't going to save Sega's 'swan song' of a console though, no third-party support and heavy piracy ultimately gutted this machine before it had a chance against its PSone and eventual PS2 competitor.

More After the Jump...

Ronald McDonald's DC

It may not sound like much now, but the Dreamcast had digital and analog controllers, a condenses motherboard that was the standard for most of its arcade partners. This made arcade ports easy and really only possible [at the time] solely on the DC. It even came with a freakin' broadband modem! Which at the time in the late 90's and early 2000 was a pretty new idea in tech. Now every console comes with some sort of connection to the internet.

Get Your Infinites Ready

I know I still play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on it. It was the only way Capcom's twitchy fighter was done right.

The Announcer Still Bothers Me

Jet Grind Radio [the US release] will always have my heart.

Remember That Awesome Parrying System?

Street Fighter's Third Strike is ultimately my favorite fighter...the weirdest characters, with the most depth.

Last but certainly not least...who can forget this gem

Before the crazy boobs and a broken game there was Soul Calibur

Thanks for the good times DreamCast. I promise to never pawn you.
