New Crack: EOS 5D Mark II D-SLR

My god...that is some sexyness staring back at me.

How could I forget to post this last week? Canon has decided to let the public in on its new top secret weapon, the EOS 5D Mark II D-SLR.  In what seems to be an almost direct response to Nikon's D90, Canon's new behemoth will also be one of the first D-SLR's with the ability to shoot video. The difference, well...besides Canon's video specs being at 1080p and the D90 being at 720p...not much.

Shane McGlaun of Dailytech adds:

"Canon goes one better than Nikon in the movie recording section with the ability to record full 1080p resolution movies at 30 frames per second. The camera has 21.1-megapixels and expanded ISO sensitivity from ISO 50 to ISO 25,600. Canon uses its DIGIX 4 Image Processor that powers the 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion. Continuous shooting can be done at 3.9 frames per second for an unlimited number of JPEG images."

Query, if all D-SLR's after this year have built in 'Movie Modes'  in them, then what happens to the Point-And-Shoot camera? It's my understanding from a couple testers of these cameras [the D90 and 5D Mark II], that the movie modes are not really that good looking.  Sure it is in high-definition, but you loose the auto focus capabilities that you'd normally get in a Point-and-Shoot.  If this puts D-SLR's in direct competition with Point-and-Shoot cameras...where will i get my 'cheap cameras' from when I go to Best Buy or Walmart?
