I Can't Believe I Just Watched The Superbowl

Even now...it still was a waste of money...and it still doesn't make sense.

Me and the gf were all set for a night of passionate movie watching [that's what we call it].  The Superbowl came up in conversation prior to me putting a dvd in, but it was something to the effect of 'who do yo think is actually going to watch it?', what transpired next could only be described was an example of how a spectacle can captivate and deliver.

Prior to putting in "Stuck" [i guess we shall watch Mena Suvari be all crazy next weekend], the default station just happened to be showing an early second quarter of the Steelers absolutely trouncing the Cardinals.  Well, as far as the play-by-play goes. The score indicated that is was anybody's game [14-7].

    Winner!

What is obvious about the Superbowl is how completly ridiculous and ostenatious the commercials have become.  Each commercial I kept thinking...wow...you paid a million dollars [minimum] for this slot of time and you used it for this?  Breakdancing lizards, broads taking off their tops to promote a future site that could have a broad taking off her top, but the most impressive by far had to be the Cash4Gold commercial.  I have always been impressed with the Cash4Gold commericals and how straight forward they are with telling you...that if you have gold...maybe you should get cash for it? To see them put the proper amount of star power [which they so thoroughly deserve] in the likes of an Ed McMahon and MC Hammer it just made sense people.

    No...just...no

Amidst all of the big budget spectacles going on at once, what with Madden speaking in front of a background that was clearly built by the best minds of Sharper Image. A commerical budget of about 40 or 50 million dollars we were treated to one of my favorite spectacles...the halftime show.

Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen and his E. Street Band [who...as luck would have it...don't photograph too well] took center stage which did all but have a transformer launch them and their band into outerspace for the first 'intergalactic half time show'.  The Boss had great energy [and quite flexible, there was a point i thought he was stuck in a Hatha position at the start of his performance] and the best part of the show wasn't him warbly singing with his Jersey-gypsie friend seen above, but the Boss giving us one of his physical treats of 'super sliding' crotch first into a camera. It was a gift this home viewer shant forget.

If anything, the actual game really got great in the 4th quarter. I, as a Browns fan, had to cast aside my life long beef with the Steelers and root for them in this game. Arizona's Kurt Warner had found their stride and were not holding back. Unfortunately both teams offensive lines had issues nearing the end of the game...some sloppy play let the game be decided on a number of penalties.

The Steelers prevailed [mild "Yay"] and now Santonio Holmes has something to be proud of...

    whoops... i meant....
