    Season's Beatings Redemption: The Aftermath

Momochi & ChocoBlanka Say, "Hai" From Season's Beatings Redemption.
Before I give my take and list the results I have to get the thank you's in. I don't know how EVO or SBO works, but I have been to every Season's Beatings here in Columbus, Ohio and seeing the hardwork that Fugee and Ghaleon [Godlike Entertainment] put in beyond impressive. Huge thanks to Team Spooky for keeping up a quality stream. I thought I saw him grow six extra arms. Seeing the man edit and switch angles on the fly all while responding to the chat on the stream was dizzying. Props to the sponsors, MadCatz and Hori. The commentators: Skisonic, NerdJosh, James Chen and Chris Hu with a special rotating guest list.

One of the best custom sticks I saw at the event. What was your name again?

My Take: You'll notice in the photos that I tried to pay special attention to the smaller aspects of the tournament -- namely the DIY aspect of Season's Beatings. Though this is arguably the biggest [notoriety-wise] the tournament has grown to be -- which makes me so proud to be apart of it, I'm still amazed at how grassroots the event continues to be.

With that said, there are usually a couple bad apples that ruins the fun. On the last day of the event, a PS3 was stolen. If you are or know someone who did, please feel free to venture on over to the boards and do the stand-up thing. When you see someone at Season's Beatings running a tournament, then picking up their stick to compete -- followed by them helping out with stream commentary, its kinda hard to imagine someone would disrespect the communal aspect of this good natured event. The last thing someone wants to worry about is if their belongings are safe. Especially when hundreds and thousands of dollars are on the line in these tourneys.

Here we see MadCats very own Mark Julio displaying the new SSFIV Tournament Edition stick.

Highlights: Skisonic and Arturo's commentary on the stream is always helpful. Talking to Mark Julio about sticks and stuff. Watching Daigo counter Arturo's low fierce with an ultra fireball...damn. The Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 finals were a healthy blend of old versus new [big fan of Moe30]. The money matches were insane! I wouldn't be surprised if Justin Wong and Daigo Umehara both won the equivalent of what they'd normally make in the top 3 of a tourney! Seeing my dancing friend, Frankie [Trickster] play FlashMetroid and being stunned at how great his C. Viper is [you'll get'm next time man]. That and seeing all the cool custom sticks. I could go on and on as you can probably tell.

Note: There was this very cartoony looking game being played in one of the karaoke rooms off of someone's Macbook. If anybody could help me out with the name of that, that would be great.

I'll be updating the results list here, but be sure to check out the SRK boards for the facts and opinions of the fighting game community.

    Message from Ghaleon:

We are uploading everything from the stream on our official YouTube channel, SeasonsBeatingsGDLK, so you can watch them in crap quality now or check out the direct capture as soon as Monday night. Check us out -- we will be posting as much nonstream stuff as I can, as well (lots of handheld, including most of ST and some 3s)

If you have SB footage please talk to me so we can get it posted for max visibility and credit you with the footage as well, esp for ST, 3s, CvS2, etc.
