Things That Are Cool: Comix, Free Games, Jane McGonigal, Internet Findings...

One of the many interesting panels I found over at Comix Cube

These past couple weeks and [I'm guessing] future weeks will be dedicated to me figuring out some things in my little life. One of which is [hopefully] getting my TV serviced so I can get back to reviewing this ever-growing hill of vidja games.

I'm also finding time to work on other artistic endeavors that you may [or may not] see on the internet.

Since my facebook sabbatical, my Twitter and e-mail inbox have been getting stuffed. Some of it is actually not totally disgusting. I'd even go as far in saying that it may have brightened my week.

Below is a dump of all the tabs I currently have open in my browser

Her hair, beyond awesome

Jane McGonigal is known for her views on gaming and how she believes it could save lives [amongst other things]. I should say, she's known for her radical views, but only in a circle of gamers in the know. But what is truly amazing is that Elle Magazine's Whitney Joiner wrote-up a fantastic piece on McGonigal's journey. Read it here to see why Jane is a hero to many, myself included.

Seeing as hipsters love obscure s**t, maybe they'll read this and start liking 'good' obscure s**t.

If you haven't read Brian Altano and Peter Eykeman's article on free and cheap games made by one person, then head on over to IGN and get to playing some games. I personally recommend:

Similar to Super Meat Boy, but the older of the two games.

Bonus freebie: Scrape by Jason Nelson seems to be dividing my timeline on Twitter. Some people love it and some people hate it. It's free, give it a try.

YES! When asked, I love my panels with a playful-murdery-ness about them.

For a good time you may want to check out Darryl Ayo's posts on Comix Cube. See this little dump of thoughts I'm putting into this post? Well he does it much better than I ever could, and the art he highlights is just magnificent.

Works By: J. CourlasI managed to fit it all in. Games, comics, and art. Be sure to check out more of J. Courlas' work here. I swear some of the stuff he illustrates begins to float off the screen after a while. Damn, I gotta put this wine down.

Closing Thoughts

Earlier today I got a little nervous. Gaming seems to be 'the thing' that get's me to login and put words on an empty white space...even on days where I'm not feeling particularly motivated. Today was different.  I had no idea what I was going to write, until I started writing.

Even now I'm thinking about what else I could be saying. Did I just waste your time? Could I have written about something more personal? Deeper?

It's probably best I don't stress matters like that. It's summer for crying out loud! And while I may have a couple of worries in the back of my mind, there is still something in these fingers. In this head. Behind these eyes.

Kick the s**t out of your days! Be excited. But remember to enjoy the sunsets. We don't have that many left.

[Sorry, I didn't know how to end this particular post. How about this...why don't you go to eBay and see the stupid crap they're selling from this year's E3. There we go. Fin]
