Commercial Break: BET Cypher With Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse & Eminem

This is moreso a placemarker for me. I'd been looking for this cypher for a couple days and thanks to the Ohio-based site OMNImix. I found it. Feel free to enjoy.

A Tribe Called Quest posing for a photo. A reluctant photo that no one wanted to take.
One of the most important notes I took in any of my photography lectures, years back, was making a connection with an artist. Finding art and an artist to invest oneself to, becomes more difficult as any medium grows. There is a high chance you could expose yourself to a lot of crap art and crap artists [subjectively speaking]. When I look at this documentary on A Tribe Called Quest, it reminds me about the many movements that occur in art. It reminds me of my youth. It also reminds me of my initial hate of the group.
Sometimes being self-aware works against you. In the above video we see retro-footage from 2005 of Mista Conspiracy. I want to say he's a rapper, but I know I'm wrong. Though I'm glad he was able to make a video making fun of himself and putting KFC product placement throughout, what I could only assume is a masterpiece of rhythmic song, Mista Conspiracy's droning nouns and adverbs leads me to this last question. "Dude, what the f*#k are you saying?!"
Always good to see like minded individuals talk about one my favorite musicians, J Dilla. The anniversary passed earlier this month and Stussy saw it only right to put out a series of interviews of all the talented minds around Dilla. It would have been nice to see Phat Kat, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson...all Detroit emcees that improved under the watchful eye of Jay Dee. I know its hard to documentaries. Getting Slum Village or Tribe interviews are probably harder than cold-fusion, but still...it would have been nice.
But I'll take what I can get.
Part 2 After The Break...
Dirty Reik a guy I have never heard of and I'm sure most of you guys haven't either, is a part of a rap group called Major Figgas. Above is a diss video/freestyle to Gillie the Kid [ex-Major Figgas member] who was probably the most talented of the bunch.
However, instead of responding in kind, with another freestyle. Gillie goes that extra mile, by pulling up Dirty Reik's rap sheet only to find that Dirty Rick has had multiple cases of being arrested for sexual misconduct to minors.
This is beyond hilarious. Gillie has definitly gained extra points in my book for playing the role of Chris Hansen.
After the jump...Gillie and Dirty Reik's Baby Mama further expose Dirty Reik as a father...
Just What Is Going On In The Mind Of Prodigy
For those not in the know, Prodigy is part of a now classic rap group known as Mobb Deep [if you like hardcore rap like I do...you should look up their earlier stuff! You may like it.]. Prodigy has had a tough break as of late. His last album didn't do so stellar. His last group album was just out right trash ["Blood Money...one of the biggest disappointments in the past 5 years in hiphop]. Being affiliated with 50 Cent's G-Unit label hasn't done him wonders.
Prodigy has been in and out of jail for the past decade, but once he signed to 50's label, things seemed to be turning around for him. Late last year, however, resulted in one the oddest arrest [barring T.I.] for fans of the rap star. Prodigy was caught with a gun in his SUV and with his record...I'll assume it violated his probation along with several other laws. What sucks though, is that he was pulled over...just for the giggles it seems. Cops weren't able to give a specific reason as to why they pulled over Prodigy other than "he was driving in a suspicious vehicle". Though I stand by that Prodigy did this to himself, this only further pours gas on the fire of the 'hiphop cop' theory.
Since, Prodigy has been in jail, he's been a busy little bee. I'm sure he's no doubt penning his next couple albums, but what you may have over looked in regards to Prodigy's mental stability would be his wealth of knowledge about the Illuminati. That's right folks...our Prodigy has turned out to be quite the conspiracy theorist...Prodigy along with being a poet [and knowing it], writes a blog for VIBE.com...literally...he writes them!
After the jump his handwritten letters from jail...
Ah...now all my college cohorts will finally understand the subtle nuances in this now famous youtube clip.
Original after the jump...
