Photophile: Deciding on a new camera

I'm having a tough time parting with my RebelXT. She still takes dynamite shots, but I am looking to do more studio and professional shots.  Above we see one of my options the new Canon 5D Mark II. I have finally talked myself off of the 1Ds Mark III cliff [8k I can keep!], but this time of year and the millions of jobs I work...begin to get a tad impulsive around tax time. After the jump Lori & friends give reviews for some other gems that I can't help, but salivate over.

Nikon D3X - I Just Puked A Rainbow

Tears Of Blood...Tears Of Blood My Friend...

Not to be outdone by Canon's 5D Mark II, Nikon introduced the D3X last week. A professional level monster of a camera. Holding 24.5 megapixels under the hood. I am pretty sure this small fortune will be on a lot of photographer's Christmas lists [but let's see who actually gets one]. The small fortune in question? $7,999.99...yeah...you are probably wondering if you should get another car or this camera aren't you?

Specs and photos after the jump.

Mighty4 Detroit < Russell Bazaar

This weekend I was supposed to document the bboy event: Mighty 4: Detroit. For better or worse I'll try and keep from saying to much about the event seeing as I left early because it was so dirty and dusty my lungs and camera were at risk of suffering some sort of short-term and/or long-term damage.

Various Bootlegs & MixtapesWhat I will talk about, is how great the Russell Bazaar is and how my little Columbus, OH should make strides of having a flea market/bazaar of this caliber.

In regards to Mighty 4: Detroit, I have to show a little bit of leniancy for Detroit [but not that much]. I'd be happy if Detroit had another bboy jam and more than willing to go to ANY jam in Detroit that isn't DEMF [Detroit Electronic Music Festival]. I know how difficult it is to get a venue to do something like this and to have it guaranteed and locked down. But to not tell dancers/customers that the venue you have is old/abandoned/filthy and possibly hazardous to children...big fail.

Mighty 4 had a great turnout [i think] especially seeing as how few jams Detroit throws on this level. The music was on, thanks to DJ Franco De Leon and DJ Lil Lean. I really hope Paulskee of Mighty4 and Detroit continue to throw jams like this just in a better spot.

Now...let's get to the grand photos of the Russell Bazaar...

Season's Beatings III Photo Gallery Up!

Yup...it was legendary

Thanks guys...it was a blast being there and learning a whole lot from playing and watching.  VDO's Rogue is ridiculous and Justin's Strider is insane! Got a new found interest in playing Guilty Gear [it really is difficult figuring out which version to invest a serious amount of time in if you're a noob].  Didn't get a chance to see the ends of Smash/CvS2/MvsC2 and all the rest! It really was a lot to cover, but it was fun doing it.  Hopefully next year I'll enter...

Edit: Due to the tons of e-mail I've been getting about these photos...after the jump is a photobucket link to all the rest of the shots of SBIII [they are low-res and some...if not most of them...suck]

New Crack: EOS 5D Mark II D-SLR

My god...that is some sexyness staring back at me.

How could I forget to post this last week? Canon has decided to let the public in on its new top secret weapon, the EOS 5D Mark II D-SLR.  In what seems to be an almost direct response to Nikon's D90, Canon's new behemoth will also be one of the first D-SLR's with the ability to shoot video. The difference, well...besides Canon's video specs being at 1080p and the D90 being at 720p...not much.
