Audio Files: Marteria - Second Bedroom [German]

Look at this as, this site further echoing the point that good music and great music videos are still being made. Unfortunately we don't have the heyday of Muchmusic or MTV circa early 90s to point us in the direction of non-U.S. videos, but props to Marteria [no, not Materia].

I don't have much I can say about Marteria/Marsimoto or Peter Fox, because I'm still super new to this music. I'm not gonna bulls**t a faux knowledge base. But I will say, according Marteria's wiki, not much is really known about such a popular rapper. So feel free to fill me in on the history. "Danke", in advance.

Aside: There are actual portions of the video that were shot over a time-lapse. Meaning, there were moments while shooting where the subject had to stand absolutely still for an extended period of time. Tough stuff to shoot.

Below are translated lyrics:

2011 Goes To The Movies

As I pull myself out of my writing, terrorist cave, I check my e-mail [as most writing terrorist do]. I see requests to review more movies. I hear your calls [/egoboosting]. Recognize that there is another life going on outside of this 'brog' I run and I see and hear about most of the movies many of you have requested I review.

Take a look at the trailer above. You see a lot of things in common right? Man hellbent on it's on destruction. Hot ladies running or at least looking like they plan on running as soon as 'the big one' [whatever it may be] hits. Let's not forget waiting for a magical hero or solution to come along to fix all of our dire problems.

I've once considered copying and pasting an old review and using the "Find" function on my browser to plug in the odds and ends that didn't fit. Thinking, "Does anyone really care to read a review about Transformers 2: Electric Boogaloo?"

Well it turns out you do. It's appreciated. However, after looking at the above trailer, you'll have to excuse me if it's a little tough to get in front of a glowing box and furiously type away. Don't worry, more is coming, but I just want you to understand what I'm dealing with here.

Commercial Break: Ultimate Stain Remover

I kinda feel like anything I've accomplished in life has been all for naught. How can any idea I have after today compete with something that, not only removes stains with such ease, but even the stain's residue! America, there is no hope. Our inventions are not worthy.

Commercial Break: R.I.P. Weng Weng

It seemed like it was yesterday when I was listening to Shawn Elliott wax-poetically on an old GFW podcast about Weng Weng. The biggest little guy. Hopefully this little post finds plenty of his fans. Though he died almost twenty years ago, his powerful little fists and feet have left prints on my heart.

That and I had a long day at work. I looked back and only seen one set of footprints. Weng Weng carried me.

Musical Notes: Behind The Scenes @ Ubiquity Records

Now I can be the creepy guy at parties that says, "I'm friends with a Japanese model." Yeah, I'm that guy now.

I've been [unknowingly] listening to Ubiquity artists for years now. A label I once knew for re-releases is now synonymous with current funk and hiphop artists. Even as I began typing this, I didn't know the band Nomo hd released work on this label.

Good job, Ubiquity Records. Can't wait to see what comes out in the future.

Also, good job Emiko.

Does Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Require "High Level" Skill?

Above is a video recorded by Bullet Proof, of Neo Empire, after Zade (Zoro) won Ultimate Clash 6's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament. Add this to the collection of 'fire-side chats' I've been collecting, in regards to the year's biggest fighting game release.

What I find most interesting in the video above is that Zade proclaims that he, "Isn't a Marvel player." Even though he just won a tournament, competing against some pretty high-level talent. I'm wondering how popular this notion, or this situation could be in the future of the Marvel series? If new players of the series begin to consistently win, will this cheapen the credibility of the game?

After watching several streams of popular U.S. events [Final Round, Winter Brawl, Wednesday Night Fights] I'm slightly confused with the stance of Dieminion and Zade. Top players will ultimately perform better than the average scrub. To a certain degree I'd like to assume this is belly aching.

The game hasn't been out for that long and people are still discovering things they like, but also things that they don't. The damage is high. The combos are fairly simple by comparison to most fighting games played at tournaments. X-factor, Sentinel, Phoenix and Wolverine are all characters that seem to keep coming up in these debates.

Maybe this could be a good thing for the community? Each tournament I've watched has had new faces and young players enter, but contrary to what Dieminion and Zade are saying, the veterans and familiar faces of fighting games typically advance farther. Is there a need to fix the damage and the [seemingly] over powered characters or will player-execution play a more vital role in future tournaments?

Things that make ya go, Hmm.

Commercial Break: James Brown...That's All

Some of my dancing friends read this blog, so this one is aimed at them. Last night was a tough night of dancing for me. Muscles are tight. Shoes don't feel quite right. I came home sweaty, tired and a little down. Then I searched previous posts on this very site

It wasn't until I remembered a clip nestled deep under the plethora of booty shaking vids and monkeys peeing-in-mouth clips, on Youtube. No matter my thoughts on James Brown -- the person -- I've always thought of him as a creative and [more importantly] diligent artist. His band, The JB's, clearly have so much musical training to follow Brown's ad-libs ... never missing a beat.

This clip...it's kinda what it's all about. Do your best. The rest will work out in the end.

Commercial Break: Creepy Fan Is Creepy

It's been a good day for the Brog, but I must admit to trolling the lovely users over at N4G. I wanted to point out a flaw in the submission system. So let's all relax by getting unnerved. Gaze into a man's eyes who clearly is gazing into yours.

Audio Files: B-Sides Edition [Funk, Psych, Rock, etc]

This segment of Audio Files is dedicated to the sentence, "Yeah, but have you heard this version?" As an aging, and possibly over-the-hill bboy, I've had the privilege to dancing to some strange tunes over the past ten years. The strange thing is, when I stopped dancing and started annoying deejays, that's when these little gems got stuck in my head.

Feel free to contribute some of your favorite b-sides and tunes close to your ears.

Commercial Break: Mouth Sparkle

Further solidifying that the world of aquatics is a strange place. Remember Ecco the Dolphin? Remember how freaking scary that was? Imagine a world where humans interacted with sea-life on a regular basis [well, besides eating them]. Actually, it might be kinda cool getting kissed by someone who's lips were mildly electrifying.
