TGS 2009: Fumito Ueda is The Closest Person To A Jedi

Sadness washes over me that I'm not a this years Tokyo Game Show. Even more sadness that I didn't get to see this pretty awesome 'Making Of..' on a gigantic which I'm sure was projected on the back of 'just-as-huge' Hello Kitty head.

Seriously, who isn't super duper jazzed for The Last Guardian? That creature that seems to be part mutt, part falcon and part rat looks to be the next creature that Ueda fans will no doubt grow fondly of whilst playing with only for some dramatic separation to occur [psychic spoiler]. Be that as it may, how awesome is the art and design for this game!?

Roseanne...Wow...just...Wow.

Really? Jew Gingerbread Cookies?A photo shoot for Heeb magazine produced this, Roseanne Barr meeting photographer Richard Metzger.  I still don't know how to feel about this shot, or the tone of this shoot.  I'm envious, I will say that. Ever see an idea and say, "Damn, why didn't I think of that?"

For some reason my biggest issue is that the cookies look so awful. And according to Richard's story, it could be laced with something. Moreover, I think I like what Roseanne stands for as opposed to her actual comedy. I'm more of a Kat Williams meets Jim Gaffigan guy. Give me a comedian [or comedienne] that can talk about bacon and pimpin' and you got yourself a date.

Art Site: Today & Tomorrow

Illustrations by Nina ChakrabatiPublished in I Want You Magazine, Nina Chakrabati had pretty damn great idea of applying tribal designs to the models in magazines. The result: excellent.  This is a smidge of what you can find over at Today & Tomorrow site.

More of Nina's work after the jump...

Fallen Princesses by Dina Goldstein

There Will Be No Jello TodayDina Goldstein is really on to something here.  She has decided to 'reimagine' the typical fairy tales young ladies attatch themselves to...namely princesses.  Its funny, its poingnant and starts from a very simple basis; what happens if you apply these character-types in a present day fashion.

more photos are after the jump...

Theo Jansen's "Kinetic Sculptures"

Theo Jansen's Kinetic Sculptures from Design Buddha on Vimeo.

Movement, I am a big fan of it.  I think its cool that the human brain can come up with [more ridiculous] inventive ways and methods of traveling and exploring space.  We don't have a lot of time on this planet [dun dun duuuuuuuuun!], people like Theo Jansen make me [as an artist] feel guilty.  Guilty, in so far as what am I contributing to society.  I mean look...he is practically riding a giant spider.  This is madness!

Rare Color FSA Photos

I Always Joke About Feeling This Way...

There really is no words that can describe how you feel when you see any FSA photos. But these color photos are now my new favorites. This says a lot considering FSA photography was/is the blueprint for documentary photographers. It is quite difficult to explain what this movement meant for me, photography, America and so on, but man am I jealous.

Site Of The Day: Bad Paintings Of Barack Obama

35.jpg

Never has one site encapsulated the eventual backlash of the 'Barack-fanboy'.  This site will make you realize that, you may be a fan of our current president...you are clearly not of the fan caliber that would have you paint something on a wooden plank and try and sell it on Ebay.

NPR: Honoring J Dilla's Music and His Legacy

"Do Me A Favah...Please! Turn It Up!"-J. Dilla

Listen Now

Day to Day, February 12, 2009 - February isn't just Black History Month. It's also "J Dilla Month" — declared by Stones Throw Records in honor of the Detroit hip-hop producer James "J Dilla" Yancey. He died three years ago this weekend. The L.A.-based label worked closely with Dilla before he passed. Eothen "Egon" Alapatt, Stones Throw's general manager, talks about Dilla's music and legacy.

One of my favorite artists. Musically and otherwise.  He is sorely missed.

Alan Horn Clears Up Dark Knight Sequel

Okay...I'm Pretty Sure Only One Of You Guys Is Going To Be In The Sequel...[too soon?]

With all the rumors swirling around the internet about possible casting for Warner Bros.' sequel to the record-breaking box office blockbuster The Dark Knight--absolutely none of them true as yet--Collider had a chance to talk briefly with Alan Horn, the President of Warner Bros., and probably the one man who would know more than anyone else about anything going on with this highly-anticipated project.
