Help Me Buy A Non-Sucky T-Mobile Smartphone

As most of you don't know, I kinda had my heart set on the HTC HD2. But as it turns out, the phone is getting critically panned. But with news that the phone of my tech wet dreams is elligible for the Windows Mobile 7 update I've decided to throw the HD2 into the fray with the rest of my T-Mobile smartphone lot. What to choose? My 'for serious' camera must be left at home, so it would be nice to have a phone that doesn't take photos that look like the equivalent of a fierce Tetris match. Though T-mobile isn't known for their 3G and Wi-Fi network, hell T-mobile isn't really known for being particularly awesome at anything! I just want something that works well on the web and has a keyboard that doesn't make me feel like I'm typing with my toes.

What should I chose? Video reviews from various sites will help with the decision making process. After the jump.

Frank Lantz Article On Game Design Advancement

Sir Frank Lantz of Area Code Inc wrote a damn interesting article on game design and the likely or unlikelihood of the probability of events occuring in games. This article is a result of several panel discussions at PAX East this year. Most notably, Lantz's focal point of the article is the topics discussed during the Rob Pardo and Sid Meier which talked about how game design should focus on adjusting to how a gamer plays as opposed to the gamer stumbling upon choke points of events.

High Tech Penis Pump Or Wave Of The Future?

I think being able to get the TV remote to float to me via my awesome brain power is a great idea.  I think we've all relished in the fantasy of having things come to us with minimal effort.  But just because its possible does not mean it should be 'so'.  Above we see people make a ball levitate with the power of a fancy technical device invented by some guy who will probably be richer than my son's son.  Joking aside, this is quite the little advancement.  I mean think about it, how long will it take for the sex industry to make use of a mind controlled penis pump.  Let's be honest here...in order for most things to become popular it has to go through the porn industry first.  See also: Internet, DVD's and horrible pick up lines.

Twitter Didn't Kill E3...You Did.

Last week, I never heard so many journalist complain about one thing...in unison.  "If it weren't for Twitter, E3 would have had a much bigger impact on me." The reality is, because of the internet as a whole, leaks and breaking news have been scooping our witty, games enthusiast scoopers.  It is great to see the spectacle that is E3 return, but in all honesty, in this age of 'nowism' [wanting to know everything instantly even at the cost of accuracy] how can a microblogging site like Twitter be the fault of the leaks which were going to leak baring the sites existence?

The E3 Trailer Brog. [Updated 6-5!]

With compliments from Joystiq.com and my non-willingness to get 8 hours of sleep.  I've made a brog dedicated to the trailers and videos released from the major companies at E3.  As of right now I have: Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft's releases below.  Later on tonight I'll be updating this brog with Sony and Nintendo's extravaganza of wankerdom.  Sorry, I'm kinda sullied on going to E3 now.  So glad to watch the live stream. It just seems like one of the worst kind of marketing cavalcades anyone could attend.  Example: Did you see the Ubisoft press conference? No human should have to endure that for a two minute game trailer sequel.

I've sectioned off the Weird Stuff, The Multiplatform titles and The Exclusives.  Let's start this off with what I think the biggest trailer of E3 2009...

***Update [6-3-09]: Well folks that should just about do it! I updated all the video I could find [from Joystiq] and all of the major announcements, barring a couple handheld gems, should be below!***

[more after the jump]

Star Wars: Old Republic [PC?/360?/PS3?]. I said it once I'll say it again...I'm not into MMO's, but this trailer is pure crack. I didn't see which consoles SW:OR is being developed, but one can only assume it is coming out for PC. It would be interesting to see a big branded MMO go to console.  Let's see how this one pans out...

PS3 Yellow Lights Of Death: "Something To Keep An Eye On"

In this hustle and bustle age of worky work...I like to relax. Several forms of entertainment, from poker on riverboats, the occasional shootout at various Western re-inactment locales, but when asked; I relax with the occasional video game.

Seeing as I am a new owner of the PS3 [60 gig - back compat model] thanks to the mighty ebay, I still cannot help to be skeptical. I have had a Dell for about four or five years without any motherboard malfunctions...and even with the occasional harddrive crapping out...never had the need to replace my entire computer. How is it possible, that the more sophisiticated our hardware becomes, the higher chance of hardware failure occurs?

After the jump, I'll link a story to an unfortunate Playstation 3 user, Guesty 81, who had his PS3 die on him by simply updating his machine.  What an age we live in indeed.

Photophile: Deciding on a new camera

I'm having a tough time parting with my RebelXT. She still takes dynamite shots, but I am looking to do more studio and professional shots.  Above we see one of my options the new Canon 5D Mark II. I have finally talked myself off of the 1Ds Mark III cliff [8k I can keep!], but this time of year and the millions of jobs I work...begin to get a tad impulsive around tax time. After the jump Lori & friends give reviews for some other gems that I can't help, but salivate over.

Palm Pre: You Guys Really Like This?

It's like a G1 & iPhone Only...it really isn't.
So CES was a big snoozefest for the most part.  Sony 3D is making some noise, but really if I wanted to play games in 3D I'd probably be one of those people who re-watches The Lawnmowerman for secret messages about the Hale-Bopp comet.  The biggest news to come out of CES this year was the Palm Pre, which buy all accounts by major tech media outlets is Palm's last 'hurrah'.  Most palm devices have been reduced to people who really have a problem dettaching themselves from outdated, branded technology like the BetaMax and Friendster.

I will admit that I am intrigued by Palm's last ditch effort to save their company in 'these troubling times', but it's Palm. I have a feeling it will be released with some form of/or innability to connect to whatever device you plug it into.  It will be large enough to be clunky and a pocket bulge, but small enough to where using it causes you to squint and hold it close to your already frowned face.  While all the tech heads are fawning over it, I'd like to say it is way to damn early to be fawning over this flimsy looking device

Nikon D3X - I Just Puked A Rainbow

Tears Of Blood...Tears Of Blood My Friend...

Not to be outdone by Canon's 5D Mark II, Nikon introduced the D3X last week. A professional level monster of a camera. Holding 24.5 megapixels under the hood. I am pretty sure this small fortune will be on a lot of photographer's Christmas lists [but let's see who actually gets one]. The small fortune in question? $7,999.99...yeah...you are probably wondering if you should get another car or this camera aren't you?

Specs and photos after the jump.
