E3 2011: The "This Could Be Good For Gaming" Edition

    Papo & Yo [Minority Studios]

[Update: 6-19-11]: I guess it's been noted on several sites that the creator of the this game is making it as it relates, allegorically, to his life. The creator, Vander Cabellero, was raised by his father who was an alcoholic. The game is centered around a young man raised in Columbia [like Cabellero] who goes to this world of fueled by his imagination, when times get tough in his personal life. The young man befriends a rhino-like beast named Monster. Monster is addicted to frogs. The young man must alter his world via puzzle-solving tactics, but he must feed Monster frogs for his help. The penalty is that Monster turns belligerent when fed too many frogs. That's all I'm willing to know and write about this game. Really can't wait.

Full disclosure: My day job is currently requiring I work longer hours and do heavier lifting. I'm currently writing this after imbibing one hell of a riesling and several cupcakes. Don't judge, but recognize that I may not be at my sharpest.

    E3 2010: What Was Missing?

Because Re-Imagined, Motion Controlled 3D Games Are The New FPS

Pre-E3 I had issues with how the show 'could' go. During E3 I tried my best to put up as much video I could find with my patented commentary -- which I'm sure you all loved. Now I'm stuck at a crossroads. I sit here elated and disgusted. Disgusted with myself for allowing my favorite hobby turn me into a kind of gaming cynic. There was nothing in the Sony and Microsoft press conferences for me. I'd even venture, had it not been for the 3DS, there would have been nothing for me in the Nintendo press conference even with the announcements of old titles being made anew.

    E3 2010: Shouldn't I Be More Excited?

Let Me Get This Straight. As A Form Of Exemplary Entertainment We're Going To Showcase The Power Of Our Mighty Gaming Culture, By Showcasing The Physical Accomplishments Of The Cirque? Failing To See A Connection

To start, I should acknowledge that my lack of enthusiasm for this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo ... expo, is a notion that has been long felt by veteran goers. So please excuse me if I am both late to the party and if these sobering words pelt your wall of hype for an event I have never attended and, at this point, never hope to attend.

    Left 4 Dead 2 - Oh Boy

Yup...it was just announced earlier today during the Microsoft press conference during this year's E3 expo.  For a while I relished not being there in the shark tank vying for a good position or time with developers to score an interview. I gotta say, this trailer had me second guessing.  This was a big surprise considering Left 4 Dead just came out at the end of last year also there was a substantial update last month, so yeah...is it too soon? Don't know, but after the jump is the company shpiel as to what the background of the sequel entails and how it compares to its predecessor.

    Enjoy
