In a crowded market, where does Need For Speed fit? Does it fit? And why is the name for this game so f**king long?!

Addendum: Uncomfortable Realism

Not having played any Battlefield 3, I can guarantee you there is no sex being had on the other side of that door.

A couple weeks ago I wrote a short [apparently] piece on violence in video games over at Couchbound.net. It specifically deals with how violence in video games are advertised. By proxy, the article lightly grazes issues of maturity and consumer responsibility.

I put the article up on N4G [among other sites] and some insightful comments where made. This addendum will function as what thoughts and ideas were spawned from said comments and discussions.

Personal Note: It's Been That Kind Of Week

video via rickymachinima

I try and keep the Brog PG-13, but sometimes a healthy f**k is good to squeeze out of the body every now and again. Don't worry, it won't become commonplace, but boy has the gaming world shown it's ugly side this week [again]. I probably haven't contributed to the healing process [pay no attention to my twitter feed]. I'd like to think at least writing this stuff down is a good piece of therapy. It's just unfortunate that when I do bitch about the pitfalls of this culture I'm met with "you know this is par for the course, right?"

The Void: Dead Rising 2, FIFA '10 and Soldner-X2

Amazing what a Google image search will get you. I promise to never use this again.

I’ve gotten a couple tweets about doing more game reviews and its appreciated. I’m doing the best I can over here, but thanks to the small success of the site, work has actually picked up. This is only partly the reason why you don’t see as many video game reviews. A contributing factor would be that a lot of games have been sucked into what I’d like to call, The Void.

The Void is the nebulous area in a small portion of my brain that never quite gets into whatever media I’m imbibing. This could mean me playing a game for 10 minutes or 10 hours and still not making any significant progress to determine a feeling.  This also applies to a plethora of media that I often quit midway through [sorry Boardwalk Empire, I’ll wait for the DVD box set].

Killzone 3 Review -- Clear Example Why Most FPSs Need To Be Multiplayer-only

You know what would be really awesome? If there were some sort of narrative tie-in as to why this beautifully, illustrated head-spearing is occuring.

Killzone 2 Review -- High Definition Awful

With an immense amount of talent and money, Killzone 2 serves as a good example why superficial measures will always supercede any form of depth in a first-person shooter.

Reading Material: From Lil Jon's Downward Spiral To 'Boning'

Even Lil John's career wasn't safe from nimble, web-active fingers.

One of the main reasons it's hard for me to write [besides the 37 other hobbies I'm currently involved in] is because I'm trying to make a conscious effort to catch up on articles I should have read eons ago. Let's expand this limited vocubulary, right?

Seriously, every time I open up Google Chrome, I have a minimum of 13 tabs staring back at me. Maybe I do need to find that 25th hour in the day? Or, maybe there is this subconscious old-guy laying deep within the recesses of my cortex, begging me to read these amazing articles on a printed piece of paper. Maybe I'm just lazy?

Be that as it may, let this serve to the people who know me via the net as well as in real life [yes, I typed the whole thing, not that dumb ass 'IRL' abbreviation], that whenever I hear people say, "You post so much on Facebook or on Twitter!"

I'm always thinking, "You should see the stuff I don't post."

After the jump is a pool of articles that I've collected probably since last year. You'll probably notice that, though I visit 1up a great deal, I have yet to catch up on an 8th of their awesome, in-depth, cover stories. You'll also notice that I read a lot about human sexuality, because...well...people are f**king weird. But so am I.
