Commercial Break: Science Just F**kin' Killed Mosquitoes

Yes, I know, another video! I'm kinda suffering from the worst kind of block right now. It also doesn't help that I'm running quite the fever after a long [productive] trip.

What you see above is from a TED talk [which we all should watch more of] centered around a constructive use of the blue laser found in most of our tech. Okay, a constructive use other than watching The Wire at two in the morning.

The inner-entomologist in me, is a bit concerned with the future ramifications of such a find. "What if we kill too many mosquitoes?" And other such questions come to mind.

But still though, this is pretty cool. And I think it's helping me through this mental block.

Maybe I'll write about this San Diego trip after all?

Things That Are Cool: Comix, Free Games, Jane McGonigal, Internet Findings...

One of the many interesting panels I found over at Comix Cube

These past couple weeks and [I'm guessing] future weeks will be dedicated to me figuring out some things in my little life. One of which is [hopefully] getting my TV serviced so I can get back to reviewing this ever-growing hill of vidja games.

I'm also finding time to work on other artistic endeavors that you may [or may not] see on the internet.

Since my facebook sabbatical, my Twitter and e-mail inbox have been getting stuffed. Some of it is actually not totally disgusting. I'd even go as far in saying that it may have brightened my week.

Below is a dump of all the tabs I currently have open in my browser

Reading Material: Apologia To Ebert & A Demand For Lifification?

Because reading about video game theory is something Rod Serling would approve of.

Commercial Break: Mouth Sparkle

Further solidifying that the world of aquatics is a strange place. Remember Ecco the Dolphin? Remember how freaking scary that was? Imagine a world where humans interacted with sea-life on a regular basis [well, besides eating them]. Actually, it might be kinda cool getting kissed by someone who's lips were mildly electrifying.

Commercial Break: Sensory Boxes --Sponsored By University of Redlands

ENVISION : Step into the sensory box from SUPERBIEN on Vimeo.

When you see a video like this you wonder, "Man, why didn't I think of that?", and "Wow does my head hurt!"

Well I'm here to tell you two things. One of which is that you probably need to take a nap because that sensory video probably gave you a loopy headache. The second is, once you wake up, venture over to the University of Redlands website and help yourself by checking out the many degree possibilities available.

I Love Bill Nye [The Science Guy]

I really mean this with every heterosexual bone in my body, but man is Bill Nye cool. Aside from his amazing life story, Bill Nye can take time out of his atom cracking day to answer the average person's concerns about the huge oil spill.

The result is pretty cool [of course] because I initially thought he would have dismissed all of the suggestions [especially the hay one].

The Brog Has A Sponsor! The University Of Redlands

The Brog and the University Of Redlands have decided to partner up. So from time to time on the site you'll see info and news about the top university in Southern California, please feel free to peruse their site...when, of course, you've had your fill of the brogs.

Not convinced huh? Still wondering why you should click on that red link at the end of this article? How about seeing if you can obtain a bachelor's degree in business? University of Redlands can help you achieve that goal and much more. All you have to do is move your eyeballs and fingers. You're doing that right now!

Let's say you've graduated already and are looking to move to the Los Angeles area. Why not continue your education or at least spread the word to someone who would benefit from attending a prestigious university like Redlands?

They have a robust Arts & Science program which would allow you studious whippersnappers to get degrees ranging from business to education. Well, that's it, there's your opportunity. Check out their website and see if you find something interesting.

Remember, if you check out the Redlands University site you're helping the Brog and all of its glorious content stay alive. And I know you want to help the Brog right? Well then what are you waiting for? Spread the word to people interested in continuing their education at a distinguished institution. And if you see something you like tell the lovely people at Redlands, that the brog sent ya.

J Dilla Documentary [via Stussy]

Always good to see like minded individuals talk about one my favorite musicians, J Dilla. The anniversary passed earlier this month and Stussy saw it only right to put out a series of interviews of all the talented minds around Dilla. It would have been nice to see Phat Kat, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson...all Detroit emcees that improved under the watchful eye of Jay Dee. I know its hard to documentaries. Getting Slum Village or Tribe interviews are probably harder than cold-fusion, but still...it would have been nice.

But I'll take what I can get.

Scientist Build An Artificial Brain That Is The Size Of A Cat's

Although the hype around my pet fandom project, the LHC, may have died down. There are plenty of cool things happening in science.

Earlier today, I explained [to the best of my abilities] to my coworkers that scientists were able to build the largest artificial brain which happens to be the size of a cat's brain. Naturally we joked about how artificial cat brains could eventually enslave us all and relegate all of our puny shopping needs to Fancy Feast and Catnip.

Now that I have had time to sit down and think about the ramifications of such a feat, you really have to wonder, "Is it worth it?"
