Commercial Break: Battlefield 3 Griefing

Supposedly this is a semi-close to gold release of the Battlefield 3 game. Not the beta that everyone [including myself] has been complaining about. I do enjoy a good greifing session. Apparently, the user had time to play the multiplayer mode with DICE employees prior to the game's release and decided to record himself annoying his teammates. This is all speculation, but judging by the map and the way the game looks, I'd be willing to believe this is true.

However, if there was a DICE employee that called the player the n-word. Yo bro, dat ain't cool. Hopefully the game is as fun as the griefing appears to be. Arthur over at Joystiq is dispelling rabble-rousing gamer's beliefs that the beta is a direct reflection of the finished product.

Props to Mike Nelson for finding this vid and BF3 Grief for posting it.

Commercial Break: Ecco The Dolphin-type Mutant Sea Creature

Yup, this video confirms it. Ecco The Dolphin may as well been based on actual aquamariner happenings.

Speaking of Ecco The Dolphin. You should check out Player One Podcast's Greg Sewart's Ecco The Dolphin: The Tides of Time. A game that was so difficult I actually threw the game CD away. Yeah, it's hard, but a great game that I wish I kept.

At this moment it appears I am the only one whose commented on his post. Really regretting dry-snitching on my bladder issues as a youth, but f**k it. It's the internet. And I still, to this day, classify Ecco The Dolphin and anything related to it [this includes the sea itself] as a nightmare factory.

[Update: 10-3-11 11:34pm. Mike Anthony of Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops and Lead Programmer of Colony Wars & Colony Wars: Vengeance is now up on Gamasutra. This is probably the last of what I'll write about one of my favorite franchises. Enjoy]

Commercial Break: Women's Clothing Through Time

I talked to my mom really early this morning. I told her about the changes to facebook, and why everybody hates it, but, you know -- still uses it. I told her about my flat tire and how I'll have no time to repair it until my one day off.

She yawned. She said, "you'll be alright, take it one day at a time." Then she did her hair. My mom's always done her own hair. Funny how things never change.

Commercial Break: Ira Glass On Creative Writing

Ira Glass on Storytelling from David Shiyang Liu on Vimeo.

My job is pulling every ounce of energy out of my body. So I better get these in while one eyelid is half-open. I'm not the biggest fan of Ira Glass, but I do appreciate his views on writing. I think his writing is better than his speaking. Since I'm always thinking of ways to tear down my writing [the stuff you see on this site, it's usually deleted three times before an actual posting], I thought it'd be best to look up someone I know is talent, yet I'm not particularly fond of.

I got this. This works.

IBE 2011 Thoughts...

Friends on my facebook page are probably annoyed of my constant postings of this past weekend's IBE festivities. Full disclosure: All video you see here in this post is property of The Notorious IBE and they deserve full credit for their production value.

With that out of the way, time to share. I've recently gotten the dancing itch again. I've been dancing for a little over 10 years [which is peanuts compared to most established bboys and other dancers]. Everyday, after work, I go to practice. For the past year, or so, I've been trying to practice more. It initially was to maintain my girlish figure and to keep some sort of playful balance in my life. It also didn't help that I took a three year sabbatical and my form was a bit, well, crap.

Commercial Break: Can You Walk Like This?

After a day of writing and hanging with some friends, I'm realizing that we are all working too hard. I mean, I love working, sometimes really hard. Builds character. But do you ever think to yourself, "Damn, I need to just straight space out for a bit?"

Above is a clip that I can't really make heads nor tails of [pun scanned...it's real!]. I would assume that it is in some way related to bugs [or glitches depending on your school of thought] found in modern programming.

So cheers to you hard working people out there. The glitch in your life will have a patch, I just don't know how soon it'll come.

Things I Did While In San Diego...

Visit La Holla beach, but remember to mispronounce "La Hoya" to "La Holla."Before we get into the details of one of the greatest trips of my life, I think I should send a tremendous thank you and shout out to Jesse Cunningham and Lea Stretch. Without them this trip wouldn't have been as great as it turned out. There are a lot of things that happened on the trip that clearly won't fit in any blog post, but hopefully I can get some of the finer points right.

Below are some photos and bulletpoints of the wild ride that was San Diego...
